Phyllis Lerwick

Saundra Phyllis Lerwick, 86, of Coventry passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mary Waldon; and sister, Denise. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Oscar Lerwick Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Paul Kluge; son, Russell Lerwick; brother, Jon Mark Waldon; many great friends and extended family. Phyllis grew up in Smithville Center and went to Greene Central Schools. After graduating from Greene she went on to get a nursing degree from Wilson School of Nursing. She then worked at Harpursville Central Schools as a School Nurse Teacher for 30 years. During that time she also went back to school at Upstate Medical and became a Nurse Practitioner. Phyllis married Oscar Jr. in 1958 and they moved to the farm on Wylie Horton Road which they still own today. She loved the farm, all the animals & the surrounding wildlife. She loved her flowers and having friends and family over to the farm. She was the Coventry Town Historian and served on the Coventry Town Board for many years. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and friend and she will be dearly missed. A Memorial Mass, followed by a luncheon, will be held 11:30am Saturday, May 25 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1180 NY-206, Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Coventry EMS, 109 North Rd, Greene, NY 13778 or the Coventry Cemetery Association.
