Marcia E. Hurlburt

Marcia E. Hurlburt, 81, of Stafford Virginia passed from this life into the loving arms of our Lord in Savior on February 27, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Hurlburt; parents, Erford and Marjorie Pixley. Marcia is survived by her children, Kenneth and Robert Rowland; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Norm Pixley; nephews, Louis and Robert Pixley; niece, Marjorie Pixley and numerous cousins. Marcia is a graduate of the class of 1961 Greene Central High School, Greene, New York. She lived in Greene for several years. She worked in the electronic field at Raymond’s, Universal and Simmonds Precision, Hercules Inc. Before retiring, she helped in many areas with their business at Hurlburt Auto Sales. She retired in Port Orange, Florida in 2000 where she enjoyed life with many friends and family. In 2022, she moved to Stafford, Virginia to live with her son. Marcia was a loving mother, loved God and lived life to the fullest. She loved family, cooking and would coordinate family holiday dinners and organize summer picnic gatherings. With the love of cooking, she created various recipes, collected many old family and cookbooks from all over the world. She hunted and simply loved anywhere that was outdoors with natural scenery. She loved fishing which she shared her passion with her grandchildren. She loved going for motorcycle and ATV rides – while on the ATV she would say, “I love being in the woods.” She loved boats, and loved overnight trips where she had the pleasure of watching Gods painting of the sunset and sunrises. She loved all animals, dogs, birds, horses and especially the love of cats. She had the pleasure of caring for four cats throughout her life, Queenie, Boots, Mandy and Chrissy. She loved to go on car rides and travel, with her most memorable trip traveling out West seeing Badlands, Yellow Stone, Grand Canyon, Mount Rush and Arches National Park. Marcia was touched by many and her memory will be forever cherished and kept alive by her loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Berean Bible Church, 109 County Rd 2, Greene, NY 13778. Friends of the family may call from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Human Society in memory of Marcia Hurlburt. Arrangements are under the direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N.
