Joan K. Trepa

Joan K. Trepa, 91, of Greene left this Earth to be in the company of the Angels and her family in Heaven on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband, Deacon John R. Trepa; parents, George and Stella Kirnie; brother, George Kirnie; and granddaughter, Stacey Trepa. Joan is survived by her children, John A. (Dana) Trepa, Jude Trepa, Jennifer Sweeney, Joseph Trepa and James (Jessica) Trepa; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Bess) Kirnie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan graduated from New York State Teacher’s College at Potsdam in Teaching. She began teaching kindergarten in 1954, then took a break to raise her wonderful 5 children and resumed teaching for another 25 years before retirement. She loved volunteering and serving at Immaculate Conception Church of Greene for many years and in many capacities. She and her husband, John, were actively involved in the Worldwide Marriage Encounter for years. She was an avid Red Hatter and served as Queen Mother for the Greene chapter. She was a friend to many and welcoming to everyone, even to those that others would pass by. She had a tremendous love for her God and for her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30pm Friday, February 23, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1180 NY-206, Greene, NY 13778. Friends of the family may call from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church of Greene.
