Jane Sawyer

Jane L Sawyer passed away peacefully January 7,2024 with family by her side and red cardinals watching from the tree outside her window. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Fern & Beatrice Livingston; her husband of 61 years, Tom Sawyer; sisters, Lucille and Norma; brothers, Rensselaer and Raymond including their spouses. She is also predeceased by her brothers-in-law and their spouses plus her sister-in-law. Jane is survived by her children, Kevin (Beth) Sawyer, Brian Sawyer (Debbi Nichols), Eric Sawyer, Karen (Jim) Strenkert, Lori (Dan) Aird; grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Kapusta, Michelle (Jim) Edgcomb, Kris (Kristen) Hickey, Matthew Sawyer (Jennifer Bugel), Ryan (Moreen) Sawyer, Dylan (Andria Merrill) Aird, Rachael (Matthew) Zabycz and Dalton Aird;  step-grandchildren, Shanon (Rob) Lutomski, Jaime Strenkert (Duane) Klein, Christine Strenkert (Jimmy) Dale, Marc (Emily) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Logan & Addie Kapusta, Jackson & Jameson Edgcomb, Liam, Keigan, Evelynn and Cate Hickey, Kaelyn and Colby Sawyer, Isla and Decker Sawyer; step great-grandchildren, Reagan Lutomski, Grey, Blair, Haynes Robinson, Brady, Avery and Kendall Bugel. Jane also had several nieces, nephews and extended family. Jane was a licensed beautician and had beauty shop in her home in Quinneville. She also worked at Greene Central School for 12 years as a teachers aide and in the business office. In addition to the 5 children Jane & Tom raised, they opened their home to 13 foster children. Jane was most proud of the time she spent caring for her family. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, April 6 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. Friends of the family may call from 10:00am until the time of service at Root Funeral Home. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jane's name to the Greene Emergency Squad, 30 Birdsall St, Greene, NY 13778.
