Barbara L. Coleman

Barbara L. Coleman, beloved resident of Smithville Flats, NY passed away peacefully at her home on April 24, 2024. She was born on November 16, 1942. Barbara was known for her love of playing bingo and cards with family and friends fostering cherished memories. Barb was a devout Catholic, serving her parish as a member of the Sacristy team at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Greene, NY. After graduating from Greene Central School, Barb pursued a career in healthcare becoming a dedicated nurses aide. Her compassionate care touched the lives of many during her time at Barnes Kasson Hospital, Lourdes Hospital and the NYS Veterans’ Home. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Claire Henninge, Sr.; sisters, Nancy Warnock and Marie Henninge; and her two husbands, Charles Miller and David Coleman. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Amy Miller; sister, Margaret “Peg” Stanton; brothers, Fred (Donna) Henninge Jr., Garrie (Karen) Henninge and Joe (Jackie) Henninge; and many cousins nieces and nephews. She will be missed by special friends, Irma McGowan and Audrey Egan. Barb’s warm smile, delicious meals and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by those who knew her. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Church of Immaculate Conception, 1180 Route 206, Greene, NY 13778. Family and friends may call from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St, Greene, NY 13778. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barb’s memory to the Genegantslet Fire and Rescue Company Inc. or the Greene Emergency Squad.
